Whitland Week has been saved! The popular West Carmarthenshire summer attraction will take place between Sunday, July 31 and Saturday, August 6. Despite fears that this year's event may not go ahead because of poor attendance at planning meetings and resignations from the committee, a group of local residents and business people have rallied together to organise the week-long extravaganza. Plans are now in the pipeline for the various daily events, including the carnival on the Saturday, but a further meeting is being held next month to finalise arrangements. This will take place on Wednesday, May 4, at the Station House, at 7.30 pm. "Whitland Week will follow a similar pattern to previous years," said committee chairman, Les Evans. "We have formed a committee and people always come out of the woodwork to help organise the events, but more volunteers are always welcome."
