No longer satisfied with an annual luncheon or an annual dinner, Whitland Rugby Club go the full hog and make it a day of celebration to enjoy each other's company in an end of season bash to make the annual presentations. It started at the Nantyffin Hotel and Restaurant where 184 members and guests gathered to kickstart the big day with the annual luncheon. Tim Burton, of the Welsh Rugby Union, was the guest speaker and the guest list also included John Jones, of Pembroke, the District H representative of the WRU. Winger Christiaan Roets was nominated the First Team Player of the Year and promising lock forward Tom Dinan, the Second Team Player of the Year. Other awards made at the luncheon were: First team player - Lee Glanville; second team players' player - Alan Proctor; first team most improved player - Huw Devonald; second team most improved player - Mathew Owens; Anthony Jakeman Award - Alun Davies; ladies player of the year - Tammy Howells; ladies players' player of the year - Natalie Bowen; ladies most improved players - joint award to Rosie Hutton and Mandy James Thomas. After the lunch, the members and guests adjourned to Whitland Rugby Club to continue the celebrations with a disco.
