Ysgol Dyffryn Taf in Whitland has come top of the class amongst schools and colleges across Wales to win the Key Stage 3 section of a design competition organised by all-Wales advisory service Careers Wales.
Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Jane Davidson, and 'Changing Rooms' star Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen presented 12-year-old Tom Roberts with a cheque for £250 for the school after his design for the Careers Wales Quality Award was picked as the winner of the Key Stage 3 section of the competition.
The presentation took place at the Careers Wales National Conference in Llandrindod Wells on Monday.
All the finalists were commended by Mr Llewelyn-Bowen - who was one of the judges - for their excellent work in designing an object to represent the new Careers Wales Quality Award for Careers Education and Guidance.
Laurence said: "I really liked the unusual nature of this initiative and would like to celebrate the achievement of these pupils in creating such interesting and inventive designs. Design has been a marginalised career until fairly recently, but its exposure on TV and in magazines has made it an extremely exciting career path."
The school was pipped to the post for the overall prize by Swansea College, winners of the 16-19 years section.
The college's design will be now be used to make the award, presented to schools across Wales for achieving top quality standards in careers education and guidance.
Sally Farr, Quality Award co-ordinator said: "The standard of the entries was superb and it was a difficult task to select a winner.
"We felt that the winning design best represented the award, which encourages schools and colleges to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to make a successful transition into work, education or training."
