Coffee morning: Whitland WI will hold a coffee morning at the Memorial Hall today (Friday), starting at 10 am. There will be a stall with cakes and produce and a raffle. A donation will be made to Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. All welcome.
IT Skills (intermediate level): Following on from the Basic IT Skills course held over the last three weeks, the CBSA will hold the Intermediate IT Skills course, starting on Wednesday, April 18. As before, this is a free, accredited course designed to build on basic skills. It is not necessary to have attended the previous course to take part, as long as you have some basic IT knowledge. The course will run for a total of eight weeks and from 10 am to 3 pm (lunch provided). Confidence building: Whitland Job Club is running confidence building sessions in a friendly nurturing manner within a group setting and/or individually. Individuals who attend these sessions will learn to recognise and value their own abilities and become ready for the next steps towards seeking and obtaining employment. Debt and benefit advice: A RDP debt and benefits officer will be at the Whitland Job on Wednesday, April 18, to assist people who are experiencing financial difficulties and/or who need help with claiming welfare benefits. The service is free, confidential and impartial. People with debts, budgeting issues or need help claiming benefits or benefit appeals/overpayments will be able to seek advice. She can also carry out benefit checks to see if you are entitled to any benefits and carry out better off calculations to see how working will affect your benefit entitlement. Referrals can be made to organisations that can help with specific problems. Drop in at the Job Club from 1 pm.
Job Club: The Whitland Job Club, with its friendly and informal atmosphere, is a good place to go and meet with people who, like you are also looking for work. Different organisations (Workways, Menter Cwm Gwendraeth , Turning Point, Carmarthenshire COASTAL Project, Cyngor 50+ Advice Shelter Cymru, RDP Debt and Benefits Advice) come in and give free advice, talks and workshops to help people look for work. Help with mock interviews, confidence building, cv writing, volunteering placements, career advice are just some examples of the areas where help can be given. The Job Club also gives free use of computers and internet access for job searches, with help at hand if needed to navigate through the system. Produce Market: Tomorrow, (Saturday), 9.30 am - 12:30 pm. Good variety of produce brought to the market by local producers. Currently there are stalls selling beef, lamb, vegetables, fish, plants, jams, chutneys, sauces, salads, chocolates and truffles, bread, cakes, quiches, pies, etc. Still looking to expand on the variety of produce available at the market.
