Whitland Town Council is once again running competitions for the best decorated shop window and best decorated house for Christmas 2006. The response over the past few years has been tremendous and the council looks forward to receiving the same response again. Anyone interested in entering their home in the competition is asked to telephone the clerk, Mrs. Jenny Davies-Scourfield, on 01994 241079, to register their entry by Friday, December 15. Judging will take place over the following weekend.

Scene set for Father Christmas Night

Whitland Town Council is holding a Father Christmas Night tonight (Friday), at Grosvenor Square, for children of primary school age and under. There will be carol singing and mince pies at 6 pm, and Father Christmas will arrive at 6.15 pm. The Town Council is also asking these children to enter a competition to try and find a hidden item in a shop window in St. John Street on the same evening and then bring their answer, written on a piece of paper, to the festive celebrations. This item will have absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. The winner will receive a prize.
