A safety DVD warning of the danger of fireworks was launched by Whitland firefighters this week, with plans in the pipeline to see that the promo is made available to schools across the whole of Wales. With Guy Fawkes night taking place this weekend, the DVD titled 'Fun Not Fear' warns children of the dangers of misusing fireworks and the selling of illegal products. Made by production company 'Tinopolis' at S4C's studios in Llanelli, the bilingual film has been taken on by Firebreak Wales, who will distribute it to schools across Wales. "Everyone of all ages enjoys watching a firework display, but unfortunately accidents happen to people who don't take care when handling fireworks, especially youngsters," said Meurig Evans, Whitland station's leading firefighter. "Therefore, it's important to get across this safety message and see that it reaches schools across the country." This year, Whitland's own firework display will be held on Sunday, at 7.30 pm, at Parc Dr. Owen fields. Adults will be charged £3 and children £2 individually, while car parking has been arranged at Whitland RFC and at Whitland Mart Ground, where a free park and ride service will be provided to the display. Once again, the award-winning Westcoast Fireworks, of Narberth, will be providing the spectacular £6,000 display as the main event, while other attractions will include a mini fun-fair and barbecue.
