The Whitland Male Choir entertained a packed house on Friday, bringing to a climax a very successful 'Open Week' of golf at Tenby.

The choir opened their programme with the stirring 'Men of Harlech', followed by 'She', and then the ever-popular 'I Believe'.

Choir soloist tenor Peter Totterdale sang 'Wind Beneath My Wings' accompanied by the choir's conductor, Juliet Rossiter. Baritone Ian Evans then joined Juliet to sing 'I Dreamed a Dream' from the London musical 'Les Miserables'.

Both soloists received prolonged applause.

In the second half, Juliet Rossiter, with the choir accompanist Hefina Wyn Jones, presented a variety of choral music, interspersed with little anecdotes about the choir and its members, and her delight in having talented Hefina to accompany the choir.

Vernon Evans (bass), one of the choir's oldest members, delighted the audience by singing 'The Hippopotamus Song', with everyone joining in the chorus, a resounding success.

The choir ended their programme with 'An American Trilogy', arranged by Arwel Humphreys, and finally 'Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen!'.

Next week, on Tuesday evening, May 25, the choir will be opening Manorbier's busy summer season of music with a concert at the village's St. James Church.
