WHAT A DIFFERENCE

A DAY MAKES

After losing to 2001 league champions Saundersfoot in very wet conditions, the Whitland team, sponsored by Whitland Engineering, bounced back to winning form at home to Milford Haven.

Thirteen-year-old Steve Aston made an excellent debut for the first team, with the 'kitty' winning rink of John Rees, Denny Richards and skip Dickie Court, beating M. McCue by 17 shots.

Tim Thomas, Ashley Reese, Jim Morrison and Chris Court were also on form with a 12-shot win over R. Thomas' rink.

Aeron Thomas, Malcolm Holding, Dai Davies and captain Glyndwr Thomas also did well, holding onto a seven-shot win over D. Griffiths' foursome.

Things did not go quite so well for Steve Reese's rink of Mathew James, Morlais Powell and Mike Williams, as the Milford foursome took off after the ninth end, earning themselves a 9-22 lead. The Whitland lads attempted a late comeback, but it was not quite enough, with the final result 16-25 to M. Duke.

The game was sponsored by Jeff Court, Station Garage, Whitland.

FINALS DAY

Last Saturday was the club's Finals Day. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't so kind, but the players' determination not to let the rain spoil the day, shone through.

Sunday morning saw the last of the finals, with Brian Whitfield and Chris Court beating an unlucky Jim Morrison and Lionel Thomas in the Harries Trophy open pairs.

All the competitors were treated to a wonderful hot meal prepared by the ladies of the kitchen committee and endless supplies of cakes and sandwiches to keep everyone in tip top form. The kitchen committee would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Pearl, Doreen, Haulwen and Jo for the invaluable help in the kitchen on the day.
