Whitland Town Hall is one of a number of venues and projects across Wales that has benefited from a windfall of more than £400,000 from the National Lottery.
Thanks to players, the Big Lottery Fund has been able to give grants to communities across Wales totalling £408,983.
Ticket sales provide a fund of ‘public’ money and the Big Lottery Fund makes grants to communities across Wales who have applied to make something great happen.
Whitland Town Hall will use the grant to hold a series of day-time activities to reduce isolation and loneliness.
This grant for £9,850 will fund materials, room hire, broadband, and sessional worker costs.
Nearby in Clynderwen, Silbers CIC has also benefited from the windfall, and will use the grant to deliver the ‘Grow Together Project’, which will offer environmental food growing and environmental skill sessions with vulnerable children, adults, carers and parents.
This grant for £4,814 will fund gardening equipment, protective clothing, tree guards and canes and a sessional trainer
Gareth Williams, National Lottery Awards for All fnding manager, said: “People who play the National Lottery may not realise what an amazing contribution they are making to the wellbeing of communities across Wales.
“Every month the Big Lottery Fund are giving grants of thousands of pounds for people to do amazing things.
“Thank you on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund and all the projects we fund.”
