Pembrokeshire Eclectic Music Society are hosting the Whitetop Mountain Band at the wonderful Burnetts Hill Chapel next Wednesday, September 14. A beautifully rural setting for such wonderful high lonesome singing.
The chapel served the local mining community of Martletwy and Landshipping previously, and was restored in 2001 with the help of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the Heritiage Lottery Fund.
Thornton Spencer will be holding the fort back home in Virginia whilst the gals tour the UK, stopping by at Burnetts Hill Chapel with a great all female line-up. They will be raising the roof as they sing and dance through the evening with traditional songs and swooping fiddle tunes, as well as Martha showing her dance moves with a great big grin!
The show will start at 7.30 pm and afterwards there will no doubt be a stop for a little drink at a local hostelry where you are all welcome to come and meet the band.
As always, the organisers suggest you bring a cushion and a torch, as the seats are traditional pews and the car park is dark!
The Whitetop Mountain Band has sold out at the chapel on previous occasions and so booking as soon as possible is advised through Main Street Music, Pembroke, tel. 01646 621530 (you can reserve tickets and pay on the door).
