Wondered about keeping warm this winter? Now you can find out how many others have thought the same and gone for it.

The Renewable Installation Map shows all the solar panels, wind turbines, biomass boilers and other renewable energy technologies in Pembrokeshire. The map can be found online at the PLANED website.

Funded by the EU and Welsh Assembly Government's LEADER+ programme, it was compiled in association with Community Energy Network and produced by PLANED.

As well as the map, there are case studies of some of the installations showing the costs, day to day running and what it is actually like to install and live with renewable energy. The guide also contains useful contact information for agencies and suppliers, as well as local people who can assist with your plans.

The map and case studies can be printed out or hard copies are available on request from PLANED, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and The Eco Centre.

One case study is Old St. Lawrence, a church converted into a home using traditional methods, but incorporating a ground source heat pump and underfloor heating.

Jill Simpson, who commissioned the work, said: "The renovation isn't quite finished, but the underfloor heating works a treat. I look forward to moving in."

The ground source heat pump, which extracts heat from under the earth's surface, transfers the heat to the underfloor heating. The whole system cost £9,000 to install and costs about £250 per year to run, but Jill's future home is warm and cosy.

St. Oswald's Community Centre, next to St. Oswald's School in Jeffreyston, is used as another case study.

The centre uses a combination of solar photo voltaic for electricity and solar thermal panels and a biomass boiler for heating and hot water.

The centre is used for playgroups, yoga classes and after-school clubs, so warmth is essential.

Emma Ratcliffe, who runs the centre and whose children attend the playgroup, said: "The users, especially the children, benefit from the warmth and can also see where the energy comes from on the displays on the wall."
