Tenby Town Council have welcomed suggestions from locals as to where they would like to see the Dyster Memorial Fountain placed. Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas had previously revealed that the architect for the new hospital was looking into the possibility of placing the fountain in the grounds of the new building, as Dr. Dyster was a founder of Tenby Cottage Hospital, donating £200 back in 1871 to clear its debts. Other suggestions for the location of the fountain have included placing it in the grounds of St. Mary's Church. Councillors have welcomed the various ideas. "We think it's only fitting to ask the town's people as to where they would like to see the fountain situated, and we would very much welcome their suggestions," said Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown. • The fountain was given by Dr. Dyster in memory of Lieutant Colonel Thomas Wedgwood, of St. Mary's Hill, Tenby, who served in the 1st Guards at Waterloo. It was sited in Tudor Square until November 1991 when it was removed after being damaged by a lorry. Since then it has been kept in storage by the council.
