Tenby Harbour Users Association has written to Pembrokeshire County Council to enquire where funds set aside to aid a scheme for a new permanent all-tides landing facility have gone.

In a letter written to the county council's director of development, Dr. Stephen Jones, Tenby Harbour Users Association secretary, Mrs. Jenny Bradley, raised the issue following a recent meeting held with the council's projects officer, Mr. John Turberville, on gaining funding for a permanent all-tides berthing extension being added to the current facilities at Tenby Harbour.

Mrs. Bradley has asked where funds have gone following an increase in levy for commercial operators, who were informed that the charge increase (in addition to yearly mooring fees) would be used to fund an all-tide landing facility.

"This charge is still ongoing and has now increased to £15 per passenger per boat per year. However, the landing facility has never materialised and a fund of some £300,000 plus should now be evident on a suspense account on the county council's balance sheet," she wrote.

The letter was brought before members of Tenby Town Council last week, when Clr. Mike Thorne welcomed the news that the harbour users had supported the low water landing initiative and were right to ask where the funding had gone.

"We believe the logical way forward is for the scheme to be an extension to the Pembrokeshire County Council owned Tenby Harbour and come under the excellent stewardship of its appointed harbourmaster for the benefit of the whole community," added Mrs. Bradley in her letter.

Tenby Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, asked for the town clerk to correspond with the Harbour Users Association on any updates.
