A CHRISTMAS proposal in Pembrokeshire means wishes really do come true, thanks to the National Trust

This Christmas, National Trust Wales has once again been collecting festive hopes and dreams for the year to come at their properties and special places.

One very special wish was made at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire. Assistant catering manager Perry Drinkwater used his wish to propose to his girlfriend Lorraine, posting it in the Wish Box and taking a photograph to show her. Luckily, she said yes and has made Perry’s first wish of 2018 come true.

Perry said: “After showing Lorraine the photograph of my Christmas wish, which she keeps on her bedside drawers and getting on one knee, without a ring, she made me the luckiest man, in my opinion!

“We are now in the process of ordering a ring and hope to be making it official as soon as we have it. The wish tree made it possible for me to ask that very important question. Thank you, National Trust, not only do I get to work in one of the most beautiful locations I’ve seen, but now my life is complete.”

The Wish Trees were scattered across Wales as part of National Trust Wales’ 12 Walks of Christmas campaign. As well as encouraging the people of Wales to reconnect with nature and enjoy the great outdoors, the 12 walks all incorporated a Wish Tree to give visitors the chance to share their wishes for the year ahead.

Located at properties across Wales, including Tredegar House, Bodnant Garden, Llanerchaeron and Erddig, the Wish Trees have been laden with glad tidings for Christmas, including wishes for everything from happiness and peace to lots of presents and family fun:

There is still plenty of time to head to some of National Trust Wales’ special places across the country and make a wish before the festive season comes to an end.
