Several events are linked to National Libraries Week, which is officially Monday to Saturday, October 9 to 14, but which starts early in Tenby Library with a visit from popular local author Judith Barrow, who will signing copies of her new book in the foyer tomorrow (Saturday).

On Monday 9th we have our usual Gadget Drop-in session in the morning and on Thursday 12th there is a special session from 11 am - 12 noon called The Best Card in Your Wallet!, on downloading e-books and magazines, and using online library resources.

We launch the Under 50s Book Club on Tuesday 10th at 6.30 - 7.30 pm. The first meeting will mainly be discussing the sorts of books people like and choosing the first book, then subsequent meetings will be on the second Tuesday of the month.

There is a light-hearted Literary Walk on Wednesday, starting at 10 am at Tenby Library and finishing again at the Library with a cup of tea or coffee.

There are also Library Week events for junior readers. On Tuesday 10th from 5 - 6 pm we have the first of the Reading Hack sessions, turning reading on its head for those in Years 7-10. This is the first of five weekly sessions, with a break for half-term, so there are plenty of opportunities for learning new skills and stretching imaginations.

Baby Rhyme Time is on every Friday at 11 am, with stories, songs and some craft activities. Next Friday, for National Libraries Week, there is a special Baby Rhyme Time with Yoriko, who will be sharing stories and songs with a Japanese theme.

We end National Libraries Week on Saturday, October 14, with a Grand Book Sale and Coffee Morning from 10 am - 12 noon, so there will a wide selection of books and nibbles for sale.

All of these events are free and there is no need to book, just drop in.

On the evening of Tuesday, October 24, the Transformation Team will hold a meeting in the Library Hall: Have Your Say on Your Town. This is open to anyone who has opinions on the future of Tenby. The meeting starts at 7 pm.

Finally, anyone who has been to the library recently may be pleasantly surprised at how well the new parking system is working. If you haven’t seen it, there are seven 30-minute bays for anyone to use in the front car park, plus two 60-minute bays for blue-badge holders. Anyone who wants to stay longer in the library needs a permit, and can park in any of the unmarked bays at the front, side or rear of the building. Parking permits are available at the library desk.
