This month we are pleased to host the spring programme of the Future Shorts International Film Festival in the library hall on Saturday at 6 pm. This is a collection of short films made by film-makers from around the world, and viewers vote for their favourite film. Entry is £5 on the door.
If you want to learn the basics of computing, but have no idea where to start, then sign up for the First Click computer course. This will be two three-hour sessions on the library computers on Thursday and Friday, May 25 and 26, covering how to use a mouse, using the keyboard and using email. Please book this course through the library.
During half-term, we have two events for children. On Tuesday, May 30, at 3.30 pm, we are having a Minecraft session for children aged eight and up. For further information and booking, please call 01437 776098 or email [email protected].
On Friday, June 2, at 11 am, we are hosting a Teddy Bear’s Picnic for children up to 11 years old (although the under eights should bring a grown-up). Bring a favourite toy, meet other picnickers and have a snack. Both events are free, but booking is essential as places are limited. Booking opens the week before half-term.
On the evening of June 2, at 7 pm, there is an illustrated talk in the library hall on ‘A Passion for Pembrokeshire’, covering the geology, history, wildlife and culture of our county. This is also a free event, but booking is essential; please contact Laura Evans on 01437 776639 or email [email protected].
This month we are displaying the books in the Longlist for the Bailey’s Prize for Fiction, 16 novels written by women and published in the last year, including the latest books by Rose Tremain and Margaret Atwood and the recent Radio 4 Book at Bedtime The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. The books have been going out on loan quite quickly, but the full list is on display in the library.
We also still have the Film and TV collection of books that have been made into films and television series. This collection spans both adult and junior titles.
There are also several new books on crafting in this month, as well as new books on gardening, walking and travel, and the DVD of Star Wars: Rogue One is in too.
May is Local History Month and National Storytelling Month and so we are displaying a few of our treasures from our reference collection in the library. Come in and browse the collection and if you have a story to tell and are interested in taking part in an event that Tenby Library is hosting in October, then come and talk to Chris at the library desk.
For more information or booking, please call Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or 01834 843934 or email [email protected].
