Local councillors want the people of the town to come forward with their views on what should happen to the former Tenby Cottage Hospital site. Councillors discussed the matter at their meeting on Tuesday night, with opinions differing on how the land would be best utilised. Many agreed that it would be best used as development site for affordable housing in the town, although Clr. Damien Brown felt that the possibility of using the land for extra car parking shouldn't be ruled out. "I'm worried that this could be the last opportunity for a site in town to be used as a big central car parking area," said Clr. Brown. "I've seen businesses such as guest houses and B and B's struggle to accommodate parking for guests, and while I acknowledge that affordable housing is a must also, I just feel that this site would make an ideal place for parking." Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans hoped that no rash decisions would be made on what to do with the land. "I think the recent housing survey report we received has highlighted the desperate need for housing in the town," she said, with Clr. Mike Evans agreeing that housing for local people was the highest priority. Councillors welcomed input from locals on what should happen to the site, and asked County Clr. Evans to keep them informed of any consultations taking place at Pembrokeshire County Council.
