On Good Friday, the children of St. Johns Church, Tenby, together with friends and visitors, attempted to catch the spirit of Easter together. Using the elements of art and craft, drama, music and garden creation, the spirit of celebration was created. The afternoon began with a short power-point introduction, 'What does Easter mean?', which led into the children's dramatic interpretation of the events leading up to the Cross. Some of the children had brought their own musical instruments and during the short time available they managed an accomplished performance, which was repeated during the morning worship on Sunday, much to the joy of the congregation. The building of the tomb scene in the front garden of the church caught the children's imagination and also gave much pleasure to the passers-by who watched them. For all who were part of the children's afternoon, it was a wonderful experience - the spirit of Easter had truly been caught. "Jesus is alive," the words echoed by the children as they brought together all the elements in their final presentation which concluded the afternoon. Clutching their Easter eggs, everyone went home happy. Thanks must firstly go to the children, whose enthusiasm was infectious, and also to Ann, Brenda, Carol, Janet, Liz, Marlys, Melanie, Nanette and Nicole, who had worked with the children and had been fortunate enough to share with them. The next venture to be undertaken by the children of St. Johns will be a 'Readathon' in May to raise funds for the people in Monza in Africa.
