Sir,
Pembrokeshire is now undergoing major changes with the new local housing development plan 2021-2031, including the village of Saundersfoot.
At a recent meeting of SCC, it was stated that Saundersfoot could have up to 160 proposed new houses.
We were also told that the doctor’s surgery can accept up to 2,000 new patients and that the school can accept a new class of 30 pupils, which if correct would mean an expansion of seven extra classes throughout the pupil school life.
If development takes place near the school, it would result in heavy construction traffic utilising already hazardous roads and reducing children safety. School car parking and traffic is already very congested.
No mention was made of the effect on water and sewerage schemes which are apparently at saturation point.
What benefits will Saundersfoot obtain from such development? Currently the infrastructure to the village by roads and pavements is of a previous century and can be considered as safety hazards.
What do we as village inhabitants want the village to look like in the next 30 years?
It is currently a delight to live in, but will the new village turn green belt into concrete. Will it be safe to drive and walk on the roads and pavements, will it have adequate health and education facilities?
If you feel that the time for discussion to influence the plan is now, then please join the community at an open meeting in the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, on May 15, as all objections must be received by PCNPA by June 1, 2018.
