Sir,
I would like to thank Clr. Jonathan Preston for being prepared to speak out in defence of the human rights of our elderly living at Brooklands Nursing Home.
I know the code of conduct prevents some councillors from giving an opinion one way or another, but it was like a breath of fresh air to hear at last, one councillor who is putting the welfare of our elderly loved ones before the thought, 'but where will we take our rubbish'.
Next the proposed site at Kilgetty. Three different reason were given to me for this abandonment: 1. Too many people objected; 2. Land liable to flooding; 3. There are issues with the land.
Oh yes, and did someone say a county councillor didn't want it in his backyard. Maybe not.
Has anyone suggested Carew Airfield.
In my past dealings with Pembrokeshire County Council, they have always shown me great care and kindness.
It's an anxious and heartbreaking time to have to make the decision to place a loved one into a care home. It's a well known fact that causing distress and anxiety affects the health and wellbeing of dementia sufferers. How can the clanging and banging of heavy trucks removing skips and bins, not have a detrimental affect on the residents. Are the bins going to be made of rubber. I am left feeling it is a heartless decision to plan to put it there.
For those councillors who are free to jump off the fence, how about getting alongside Clr. Preston and fight for the rights of our elderly, who have a right to peace in their last years.
D. Burnell,
Pentlepoir.
