Naomi Hunt, a pupil at Tenby Junior School, has certainly had a week to remember. On Saturday, April 26, she competed in the Chevron Primary Schools Music Festival at Sir Thomas Picton School in Haverfordwest. Naomi, who is taught by Richard Tiller, was placed first in the open strings competition. At the Saturday afternoon concert, she then competed against the individual winners of the open percussion, open woodwind, open brass and open piano, and was declared to be the overall winner. The following Saturday, May 3, she travelled to Dublin to compete in the Irish Open Dancing Championships, an international event with participants qualifying from previously held preliminary competitions. Naomi competed in the Ullmuchan under 11 championship, a combination of two dances, one in soft shoes and the other in hard shoes. There were 50 competitors taking part in the section and Naomi, a student of the Hynes School of Irish Dancing, was judged by a panel of distinguished judges to be the winner.
