Sir, I was standing outside the Salvation Army Hall, which is an absolute credit to the hard working people who worship there. Not only do they keep their premises inside and out in excellent condition, but by sheer hard work, prayer and determination can also manage to serve the needy of this town and, together with friends from other citadels in Britain, carry out the wonderful work of the Salvation Army all over the world. In contrast, I looked over the road at the so-called buildings occupied by the shops and rooms above. What a sight met my eyes! Broken down windows with no glass, ivy and other plants growing out of the crumbling walls daubed with hideously coloured paint. It really is a sight for sore eyes! My question is: How long do the people of this town together with holidaymakers have to put up with the increasing dilapidation of such buildings?

(Mrs.) Phyllis Duffett,

The Forge, New Hedges.
