Despite every effort made by the newly-formed Area Hunt Club Committee, the start of the West Wales Point to Point season, the West Wales Area Club meeting, had had to be called off on Sunday.

Weather conditions were worse than predicted at the coastal course at Lydstep, leaving officials with no option.

Horse welfare and the safety of jockeys and racegoers was always paramount and, despite escaping snow showers on Friday, temperatures had fallen below the predicted forecasts, leaving frozen patches on the course.

The meeting will be restaged this Sunday, January 10. Entries will stand and the first race is again off at 11.30 am.
