A fascinating exhibition of batik designs by Dorothy Morris begins at Colby's Small Gallery on Saturday, May 18.
Dorothy a regular exhibitor at King Street Gallery, Carmarthen, also works for the "Arts Care" organisation at the Stackpole Centre, where she is a resident tutor, and where her work is also on display.
Having trained originally at Birmingham Polytechnic and at Cardiff Art College, specialising in textures and ceramics. Dorothy draws her inspiration from her local environment, landscape and the elements. She is particularly moved by "nature, landscapes and the effect of light moving across form", constantly experimenting with various techniques and ideas "to convey the moods and effects of the visual environment".
The exhibition, which also includes a selection of her water colours, culminates with Dorothy demonstrating her technique on Saturday, June 1, from midday to 2 pm.
There will be no charge to onlookers, but to be assured of a place advance booking is recommended.
