West Wales Care & Repair continues to make a significant difference to the lives of older people and individuals living with disabilities across Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. Over the past decade, the organisation has helped thousands of residents remain safe, warm and independent in their own homes.
The service is available to people aged 60 and over, as well as those living with disabilities who meet the eligibility criteria. West Wales Care & Repair provides practical support through a team of skilled craftspeople who carry out minor home repairs and adaptations, alongside dedicated caseworkers who visit clients at home to assess their needs and offer guidance.
During these home visits, caseworkers discuss home safety concerns, check benefit eligibility, and provide advice on local services that may be helpful.
Most services are offered free of charge or at minimal cost, ensuring support remains accessible for those who need it most.
How the service can help:
· A free Healthy Home Check assesses what changes you may need for safety, warmth and accessibility.
· Help with home repairs and minor adaptations, such as grab rails and key safes.
· Free support to ensure you receive the benefits you are eligible for and help to maximise your income.
· Guidance and technical support on building work, including funding advice and recommendations for safe contractors.
· Tips and ideas to help you stay safe and warm in your home all year round.
· Connections to other community groups and services that can help, including referrals to local specialist services.
There are three main eligibility criteria:
· You must live in Pembrokeshire or Ceredigion.
· You must be over the age of 60.
· You must be a homeowner or rent a home privately.
