MORE than £8,000 in local sponsorship was raised recently in support of an ambitious challenge which took place on Saturday, June 8.
Dr. Mike Bartlett, associate specialist in haematology based at Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit, along with Megan McFarlane and her father Dr. Fin Mackintosh, were successful in scaling all three Welsh mountain peaks in a walking time of 9.5 hours in aid of local charity Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit Appeal. The challenge sought to raise funds for the charity which provides the unit with equipment and resources not normally funded by the Local Health Board.
Mike commented: "I knew a three peaks climb in a day could be achieved and I'm just so delighted we have been able to raise so much sponsorship along the way. I cannot thank the people of West Wales and beyond enough for their support."
Megan, who teaches at Tasker Milward, added: "It was good to be part of this fund-raising effort. The work carried out at the cancer day unit at Withybush is first class and the team and patients deserve as much support as we can give them."
Thanks to all Observer readers who made a donation, your support is very much appreciated.
