As reported last week, the Welsh rugby squad visited Heatherton Country Sports Park to compete in a team building exercise prior to last weekend's Prince William Cup clash against world champions South Africa. All of the squad participated in the activities at Heatherton, except for Stephen Jones and Jamie Robinson, who were unable to attend due to injury. The team took part in the 'Heatherton Challenge' where the players competed against each other on the park's activities. After an epic three-hour battle, Luke Charteris was crowned the best performer of the day. Other top performers included Gavin Henson and Dwayne Peel, who displayed hidden talents for archery. James Hook also impressed with the pistol gun, peppering and ultimately destroying his target. Welsh man mountain and local boy, Johnny Thomas, displayed his skills on the baseball. This is hardly surprising, having been a very talented Welsh international cricket player in his earlier days. The biggest battle took place on Heatherton's 55mph karts on their specially designed outdoor racing track. The Welsh squad showed that they should stick to rugby, as their racing abilities were somewhat flawed, with one member describing it as a 'demolition derby'. The day was fun for all, as the Welsh team spoke to the local press, signed autographs and posed for photos. Heatherton operations manager Simon Webb commented: "Wow, I was a little starstruck seeing the Welsh team here at Heatherton. They were so friendly and down to earth. The size of a few of them made me feel like a hobbit though!" Heatherton can offer you the same package which the Welsh team enjoyed.
