Sixteen-year-old Ashley Bonser has been celebrating this week after being called up for the Welsh Under 16s rugby league squad.

Ashley, a Year 11 pupil at Tenby's Greenhill School, had a 'phone call on Tuesday evening confirming his selection for the squad.

Ashley, who is training as loose forward, will earn his Welsh cap when he takes to Brewery Field in Bridgend in Wales' first international match against England Under 16s on April 10.

Ashley attends the Celtic Crusaders Foundation Academy, which has recently been launched as part of the new Super League team's prestigious and exciting junior development programme.

Their home is the Brewery Field, and he's relishing the challenge of playing at the 12,000 capacity stadium.

In addition, Ashley also plays rugby union and, as well as turning out for Greenhill, he plays for the Pembrokeshire and District Under 16s and Pembroke RFC teams.
