The Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland has chosen this year to use the proceeds of the Welsh Dragon Boat Championship to support charities involved with mental health, such as MIND, Adlerian Society of Wales, Working to become Dementia Friendly and HAFAL.

This will be the fourth year that the event has been staged in Pembrokeshire and already 18 teams have been identified and are actively recruiting their supporters.

Over £40,000 has been raised during the past three years, so club president, Mary Adams, is hoping that the proceeds this year will benefit some individuals and organisations in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire who have mental health issues.

This year, it will be much easier and cheaper to enter a team. The number of people in each team has been reduced from 17 to 15 and, the combined entry fee and individual fundraising target has been reduced from £65 per head to £50 per head.

During the day, Sunday, May 28, all children’s rides and entertainment will be absolutely free and there is no entry fee for them to get into the country park and reservoir. There is also free overnight camping on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th.
