For the third year in succession, Pembroke Octopush Club have retained their position as Welsh underwater hockey champions with a goal tally of 27 for and two against at the annual Welsh tournament held at the New Haverfordwest Leisure Centre Pool on Sunday, April 26.

Following club captain Tim Dyson's game plan, team captain Guy Wilson led the squad to an impressive, if at times nail-biting, victory.

Throughout the better part of the tournament, Pembroke comfortably withstood determined attacks from all-comers. However, towards the close of the tournament, Llwchwr Octopush came close to forcing a play-off with a long drawn-out forceful and physical drive which terminated in their failing to press home a significant positional advantage in the closing seconds of the match.

Pembroke Club wish to thank the management and staff for the welcome and assistance they and the visiting teams received at Haverfordwest's first underwater hockey tournament. All tournament participants enjoyed their day and were favourably impressed with the quality of the pool as well as the many other facilities at the venue.

The retention of this trophy marks Pembroke Octopush Club's continued dominant position in Welsh underwater hockey.
