On probably the hottest day of the year so far, the dedicated ladies from the Pembrokeshire Committee for MacMillan Cancer Support could be seen rolling, cutting and cooking Welsh cakes on the quay at Saundersfoot harbour. Sweltering in the heat of the day, Pauline (chair of the committee), assisted by committee members and volunteers, raised a total of £790, £690 from the sale of Welsh cakes and £100 of donations. This year, the group were supported by two young volunteers Olivia, the granddaughter of vice-chair Monica Vanner and David and grandson of volunteer Ann Green and their help proved invaluable. Pauline would like to thank all those who bought Welsh cakes and in doing so gave much-needed support to a very worthwhile cause. Date for the diary: Thursday, August 14 - concert given by Tenby Male Choir at St. Mary's Church in Tenby. Proceeds in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. Tickets on sale on the door £7, with £6 for concessions.
