Today (Friday), Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Heritage, Rhodri Glyn Thomas, will officially launch the first development stage of PLANED's new Experience Pembrokeshire Web Portal. This exciting new website will provide local people and visitors with user friendly access to information about the landscape, nature and heritage of Pembrokeshire. Through the Web Portal more detailed information held by Countryside Council for Wales, Dyfed Archaeological Trust, Pembrokeshire County Council, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Wildlife Trust, West Wales Biodiversity Centre and National Trust can be browsed. Visitors to the site will be able to access varying levels of information like never before. Using digital mapping they will be able to search communities throughout Pembrokeshire to uncover the numerous hidden treasures in the landscape including sites such as ancient standing stones, colourful dragonflies and views that will take their breath away. All of which is stunningly depicted by local photographers and artists illustrating the beauty of the Pembrokeshire landscape. Before his visit to PLANED, Rhodri Glyn Thomas, said: "This new Web Portal is an excellent and innovative resource that benefits the community as much as visitors and I look forward to learning more about the project. I'd like to Congratulate PLANED and their many partners for their excellent work in bringing communities together to improve their quality of life, celebrate their heritage and develop their economic wellbeing through sustainable business activities, tourism and agriculture. The value of strong local communities cannot be underestimated – a strong sense of place is one of the elements that attracts visitors, and it is often the welcome and warmth of a local community which 'makes' a holiday." Anyone who is interested in the history and nature of Pembrokeshire will find this website a wonderful tool for the future. PLANED welcomes you to Experience Pembrokeshire.
