A book which was launched in June could already be on the bookshelves of The Vatican, Balmoral Castle, the House of Commons and the Welsh Assembly.

'The Road to Shalom', was written by Margaret Burnett MBE, founder of Shalom House, St. David's.

It recounts the moving and touching story of the people and events that led to the opening of Pembrokeshire's first palliative care unit in 2007.

The book was launched in June by Lady Mary Burnell-Nugent, consultant in palliative care medicine and medical director of St. Luke's Services, Plymouth, who wrote the preface.

In a letter to Margaret Burnett, the Queen's Lady-in-Waiting, stated from Balmoral Castle: "The Queen was pleased to hear of the successful opening of Shalom House after so many years of hard work by such a dedicated team."

And the letter from the Vatican says: "His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI gives the assurance of a remembrance in his prayers and sends his blessing."

The book, priced £6.50, is available from Shalom House, through fundraisers, or through http://www.supportshalom.com">www.supportshalom.com.
