Sir,

I was brought up in Tenby and left in 1966 for Cambridgeshire. Last week I returned for a holiday bringing along some friends so that I could show them my childhood haunts and what the town and area had to offer. All I can say is 'Well done Tenby'.

I was very pleased indeed with how attractive and clean the town looked, especially with the paved streets and floral displays along the town walls. I saw no graffiti, the pavements were clean, there was virtually no litter to be seen and the superb beaches were spotless.

Much of this is an improvement over how the town looked when I left in 1966.

Another improvement is the amount of public parking available and the traffic management in the town centre - it used to be a nightmare in the height of the season when I lived there. Even driving to Tenby now takes only half the time it used to, making it so much more accessible.

I admit that I visited Tenby at the end of the season when the town was quieter and that one does not always get the full picture in a seven-day visit, but I was really pleased with what I saw and experienced and my East Anglian friends were very impressed too.

What with this, the lovely weather and the glorious views, I am determined to go 'back home' a lot more often!

Harston,

Cambridge.
