Sir,
After watching Channel 4's IronMan Wales on Sunday morning, I felt I had to put pen to 'paper and say, 'Well done Tenby', and how proud I am to hail from Pembrokeshire.
Although I have lived in Edinburgh since 1948, I was born and raised in Neyland, then moved north with my Scottish husband, after the war, to live and set up home with my own family (he was in the RAF and stationed in Pembroke Dock).
Happily, one of my daughters now lives in Tenby and two of my grandchildren (now grown up and coincidently living and working in Edinburgh) were both born and brought up in Pembrokeshire, so I am always eager to visit and keep abreast of what is going on in my 'homeland'.
Despite failing eyesight, I did manage to watch and hear most of this wonderful event on television with my husband and can only say that Tenby should be extremely proud of hosting such a prestigious event.
The goodwill of all the spectators was quite infectious and I am sure this must have had a positive effect on all the participants who were eagerly cheered on.
What a wonderful day it must have been for everyone involved and congratulations to all who took part.
I felt quite homesick as I watched the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside on screen, bringing back many happy memories of my own childhood and subsequent visits throughout the following years.
Congratulations and thank you for a wonderful start to my day.
Mrs. Marjorie Hood
(nee Griffiths),
Edinburgh.
