Sir,
I read with interest the comments of Alistair Mackay in last week's Observer.
Following the publication this week of the scheme for the summer, it is evident that the county council have indeed taken on board the concerns of residents of Tenby. What is proposed will be of benefit to the whole of Tenby, not just those who seem to adopt the attitude of banning everyone except themselves.
As a businessman who has invested in Tenby over many years, I fully support the pedestrian scheme for Tenby. Of course it will cause problems, but for the benefit of Tenby we must put our minor inconveniences to one side.
There is no doubt that people spend more time in the town, hence spending more money. It is safe for families with young children. There are no traffic fumes. It creates a wonderful atmosphere. For disabled people it allows them easier access to and from their homes. With no traffic they need not worry that when they leave home upon their return they might not be able to regain access due to vehicles indiscriminately parked across the dropped kerb.
Following comments from the so-called Walled Town Association it would appear that most residents are against the proposals. Not true. Before Mr. Huw Roberts leaves we should say to him "Well done."
