THE grandson of a former Mayor of Worcester with connections to Tenby was almost walking on water with his bride when the couple tied the knot recently.
William Spalding, the nephew of Rosemary and Anthony Rhys Davies, of The Grove, Tenby, and fashion designer Vesta Okyere-Yeboah, recently got married by Worcester's newly enhanced riverside area and were one of the first to walk along the refurbished Watergate entrance to get to their wedding transport of choice - a rowing boat!
After tying the knot at Worcester Cathedral, the happy couple walked through the Watergate and then down the steps to the Severn to take the ferry across to their reception at Worcester Cricket Club.
Mr. Spalding's grandfather, Dr. Frederick Spalding, who served on the city council for more than 40 years, was given the Freedom of the City for his work giving medical help to Worcester's poor before the NHS was formed.
