FROM Sunday (August 24), to Friday, September 5, the Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will be mounting a dazzling exhibition of members' work in the Small Gallery at Colby Woodland Gardens.
On Bank Holiday Monday (August 25), with families in mind, there will be 'Felt-making for Children' from 10 am to 4 pm, under the guiding hands of Guild volunteers.
'Awash with Colour' combines an inspiring collection of weavings, wall-hangings and rugs, together with hand-spun garments, felt-made items... and a whole lot more.
All of these items are produced - in many cases from their own furry friends - by members of the Guild who meet at Bloomfield Community Centre, Narberth, on the third Wednesday evening of each month.
A varied programme includes guest speakers, informal get-togethers, learning to spin and weave, introducing new ideas and helping each other with new projects. Day workshops are frequently held on a wide range of subjects.
New members are always welcome, and experience is not necessary. The Guild secretary Karen Davies, will supply information on all aspects of the Guild on (01646) 661697 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]
Gardening enthusiasts will get double value if they turn up on Sunday, August 31, when Colby will also be holding a late summer Plant Fair. In keeping with National Trust policy, all compost will be peat-free, so it's a golden opportunity for plant-lovers who are also concerned for the environment to augment their autumn collection.
Gardens, gallery, shop and tearooms are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, and our usual two-for-one admission offer is available on production of this article. For further information, please ring (01834) 814200.
