BBC Wales' weatherman Derek Brockway begins his adventure on Monday, January 30, in the heart of Wales in the midst of waterfalls, dramatic woodlands, and gorges.

He takes a circular walk around the Hafod Estate in the Ystwyth Valley above Aberystwyth, renowned for its 18th century picturesque landscapes.

Originally owned and developed by Thomas Johnes, today the landscape and walking trails are being restored by the Forestry Commission.

The second walk in Weatherman Walking also bursts with history, as Derek visits Laugharne and follows in the footsteps of poet and playwright Dylan Thomas.

This small town, situated on the estuary of the River Taf, is thought to have been the inspiration for the fictional town of Llareggub in Under Milk Wood, Thomas's famous play for voices.

The first leg of the walk heads up through the town and back along the beautiful estuary, taking in St. Martin's Church cemetery where Thomas is buried, and the famous boathouse where Thomas lived before he died.

For the second leg, Derek and his guide follow Dylan's birthday walk over Sir John's Hill which provides extraordinary views in all directions.

Weatherman Walking is on Monday, January 30, BBC One Wales, 7.30 pm.
