A combination of the high spring tides and ‘Storm Emma’ also caused devastation to the sand dunes on Tenby’s South Beach, with large areas collapsing along the coastline between the town and Penally. Fortunately, the gabions that were installed on Penally beach in 2014 did their job in protecting most of the adjoining golf course, but such was the erosion caused by the tide in one section, that part of a path used by golfers has collapsed and is not safe to use in its current state. The golf club say that they have now started to pursue all avenues for further long-term protection on the beach with all the various bodies concerned.
