Last weekend Jade Griffiths, owner of the Wavecrest café at?West Angle, appealed through her Facebook page to the public for their support in the light of the new car parking charges and what she describes as ‘bad feeling amongst local people towards the National Parks’:
“As a family, we have put everything into our business and to read that people will ‘just stop coming to us’ and that ‘it will be the end of us’ is so upsetting.
“We have tried our very hardest to stop these charges. We initiated a petition, we attended meetings, we spoke with the newspapers, the radio and even had an interview with BBC news about how morally wrong the charges were and that the car park should always remain free.
“Unfortunately, despite the local effort to try and stop it, the National Parks have installed a new pay and display machine. We were one of the few remaining free car parks in Pembrokeshire but the history behind it just makes the whole thing seem so unfair.
“After an extremely difficult year, we can only ask for your continued support. Every customer who walks through our door is valued and even though this a worrying time for us, we will remain positive for the year ahead.”
You can follow the Wavecrest Facebook page to keep abreast of their plans for reopening.
