Warwickshire's cricketers enjoyed their visit to Carew so much last season, that they want to return again this season. Last year a benefit match was staged at Carew early in July for Warwickshire captain Nick Knight and the Tenby Round Table, when a Pembrokeshire Select XI defeated their first class opponents from Warwickshire. It was an occasion much enjoyed by the players from both teams and the large crowd contributed generously towards the joint benefit coffers. This season will see a benefit match being staged on a Sunday in June, when 2005 Warwickshire beneficiary Dougie Brown, who has played one-day international cricket for England, will bring a full strength squad down to Carew, to play a representative team to be selected by Carew stalwart Gethin Evans. The 2005 cricket season will coincide with the 50th Charter of the Tenby Round Table and there may be a reference to this memorable landmark in the name of the representative team. Sunday, June 26, has been set aside provisionally for this prestigious fixture as it is wedged in between Warwickshire's visit to St. Helen's, Swansea, for a Twenty20 cup match with Glamorgan and their Twenty20 match at the County Ground, Bristol, against Gloucestershire on Tuesday, June 28. Further details will be announced when arrangements have been made in more detail.
