Pendine Community Council has warned beach-goers about the risks of collapsing sand dunes, urging everyone to adhere to posted warnings for their safety.

The Community Council shared on social media: “We’ve recently been made aware that people have been digging in the sand dunes. While it may seem harmless, this is extremely dangerous.

“The dunes are unstable, and digging can cause sudden collapses. Tragically, there has been a fatal incident in Carmarthenshire in the past as a result of this kind of activity. We absolutely do not want to see anything like that happen again.

“There are clear warning signs around the village highlighting these risks—please take a moment to read and follow them. Parents and carers: please speak to your children about the dangers of digging in the dunes and why it’s not safe.

“Holiday let owners and caravan hosts: we kindly ask that you make your guests aware of this too. Let’s all work together to keep everyone safe while enjoying our beautiful coastline.

“Please share this post to help spread awareness,” they added.
