A groundbreaking exhibition commemorating the Second World War was launched in Pembrokeshire this week. Sixty years after the war ended 'Their Past Your Future' looks at the impact of the conflict and its legacy on people and places across Britain. It was officially opened by the chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. John Thomas, on Monday. Clr. Thomas said it was wonderful for people of his generation who could share and compare experiences. "It is even more important for the younger generation, who will benefit from learning about what it was like to live through the war and how it has left a lasting legacy, which still shapes our lives today," he said. The touring exhibition has been curated by the Imperial War Museum in London and will be hosted by eight venues in Wales. It is part of a £10million, 15-month programme of commemorative and educational events. The bilingual exhibition will explore how the war changed the people and landscape of Britain through case studies, images and printed and audio-visual materials. At its core will be the personal stories and experiences of those who lived through it. The exhibition will be staged at Haverfordwest's Library Gallery until May 9. This is its only appearance in West Wales. It is supported by the Big Lottery Fund and administered in Wales by the National Library of Wales.
