Ten Nordic Walkers gathered in Amroth car park on a windy Thursday morning. According to the thermometer, the temperature was actually quite mild, but the chilly wind dominated the feel of the day.
After an easy but blustery walk along the sea front towards the New Inn, the group turned up the more sheltered, but long and steep track to Eastlake farm. John and Marilyn effortlessly demonstrated their superior fitness by leaving the rest of the group far behind them. After carefully navigating their way past the farm, trying to avoid the mud and cow pats the group continued on up the hill to Amroth church. They took a well deserved break in the churchyard enjoying the sea view, before continuing on to Craig y Borion Wood. The rest of the walk was much easier, downhill through Colby Woodland Garden all the way to the Amroth Arms, for a very pleasant lunch.
On Saturday, 34 walkers made their way to Lawrenny Quay by minibus and cars. It was less windy than on Thursday, but still chilly at the start. Brian backed by Kym, led the smaller Speedies group through Lawrenny Wood. By dropping down onto the foreshore, they were able to walk around to Garron Pill. Meanwhile Paul, supported by Chris, led the larger Steadies group up through the woods opposite the Lawrenny Arms. Stopping to admire the view over the Daugleddau, they continued through the fields, past the church and down the lane back to the pub. At about the same time, the Speedies came onto the lane to the north of the church. When the Speedies reached the church, they did the reverse of the Steadies route across the fields and through the woods to the Lawrenny Arms. After refreshments and lunch in some cases, everyone made their way way home after another highly social and very enjoyable walk.
