A holidaymaker fell and injured her ankle whilst walking on the coastal path near Saundersfoot on Tuesday.

The woman, who is from Treharris and was staying at New Hedges, fell near Swallowtree woods at approximately 1 pm.

Due to the location of the incident, ambulance personnel summoned the help of local coastguards in rescuing the casualty.

The coastguards carried the woman on a stretcher down to the beach, where she was picked up by the inshore lifeboat crew who took her and the paramedic who was tending her to Saundersfoot Harbour.

The woman was then conveyed to hospital by ambulance.
