A ruckus involving 30 people in Saundersfoot on Saturday night, ended with a Welsh international rugby player being arrested.

Twenty-four-year-old Cardiff Blues lock Bradley Davies, who has been capped 22 times for his country, was one of two men held after a fight outside The Deck Bar, situated in the village's Cambrian Terrace.

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police, said: "Two men, aged 25 and 24, have been arrested and bailed following a fight involving approximately 30 people outside The Deck public house in Saundersfoot on Saturday night.

"A number of men and women were allegedly assaulted sustaining cuts and bruising to the face during the incident, which occurred at approximately 21.55 hours. Glasses and bottles were also reportedly thrown during the incident.

"Officers from across Pembrokeshire attended the incident and, after the crowd dispersed, police maintained a high profile presence to ensure public safety and prevent any further escalation of trouble," added the spokesperson.

Although a spokesman for Cardiff Blues said "It is inappropriate to comment while police carry out their investigations," coach Dai Young confirmed that Davies, who won his most recent Welsh cap in the Six Nations defeat against France, will be involved in tonight's (Friday's) must-win Magners League clash with Connacht in Galway, as the Blues seek victory to maintain their play-off hopes.

"It's a matter for the police at the minute, but Bradley's available for this week, he's back in full training and he moves on," said Young at a press conference on Wednesday.

"Any comment to be made will be made further down the line. He's obviously disappointed with events that happened over the weekend, but he's in the right frame of mind to play and he'll certainly be right up for the game," he added.

Local police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact PC736 Lewis at Tenby police station on 101.
