This spring sees the launch of the new Sport is Beauty programme at Celtic Haven and the resort is delighted to announce Wales international, Emma Guerreiro has joined their team to head up the new programme.

For a young woman of 18, Emma has already made an impact on the golf circuit and in youth and ladies golf.

She started playing golf at the tender age of 10 at Tenby Golf Club and, by the time she was 15, she had been selected for the Welsh Development Squad.

In 2008, she was presented with the Rita Roberts Salver for the most improved golfer in the Welsh Girls Championship of 2008.

In 2009, this young talent was selected for the National Elite Squad U18s and was the winner of the Best Nett in the 2009 Junior Wales Open.

Other achievements include Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire county champion 2009, West Wales champion 2010, and overall winner of the AJO Bowl at Tenby and Trefloyne Golf Club 2010.

Emma commented: "My desire to play golf originated from my father's passion for the game - in his youth he was a caddy for Christie O'Connor in Portugal.

"He attained the Guinness World Record for the longest period of time to bounce a golf ball on a golf club and has a trick show which is inspiring to golfers and non golfers throughout Wales.

"He completed the London, New York and Dublin Marathons bouncing the golf ball the entire way.

"My father's determination and drive to succeed to be the best at what he does has inspired me to become the golfer I am today and to practice and improve and become a scratch handicap golfer in the future."

Emma is keen to introduce golf to women of all ages and believes her philosophy towards golf ties in perfectly with Cool-golf and Sport is Beauty.

Emma continued: "I love golf and, as a young woman, am keen to change the stereotypical perceptions many people have of the game. A lot of people still think of golf as a sport for older ladies and I want to change that with the 'Sport is Beauty' vision.

"For me, it's about women of all ages - from eight to 80 - enjoying golf as a fabulous way to relax and meet up with friends - to smile and have fun and not get too serious about their scores and the competitive nature of the game.

"I see Celtic Haven as the perfect place to do this - women of all ages and abilities can spend a fun day with friends, getting some fresh air, exercise and social time on the course and then have the opportunity to relax in the spa or restaurant afterwards.

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at the inception of Sport is Beauty and am pleased that later in the year we will have some really funky items of clothing too. Such a lot of golf clothing and accessories are geared towards men or have a certain 'look' about them which shout 'golf' rather than 'fashion'".

The launch of Sport is Beauty really adds to the golf experience at Celtic Haven.

With its nine-hole headland golf course boasting three championship holes (including two par fives) and stunning views of Caldey Island, it's the perfect place for new and junior golfers, as well as families and more seasoned golfers seeking some fun and scenery with their golf game.

There is a common misconception that the word golf is an acronym for gentlemen only ladies forbidden.

Emma, Cool-golf and Sport is Beauty, are sure to change that belief in an innovative, fun and feminine way!
