St. Florence Women's Institute had a busy day on Monday, March 14, with the monthly meeting in the Village Hall during the afternoon, and the Group meeting at Saundersfoot in the evening. President Mrs. Mary Evans was in the chair, and welcomed 14 members. Mrs. Dorothy Gedrych thanked members for the sympathy card received on the recent loss of her mother. Two teams had entered the Federation Quiz at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, and enjoyed the evening. A draw took place for the institute bursary, Mrs. Anthea Nixon being the lucky winner. The institute lunch, held at Bramleys Tea Rooms, was much enjoyed as usual, thanks to Liz and staff. Mrs. Nora Nunn thanked president Mary for making the arrangements, and in turn the president thanked Mrs. Nunn for making Welsh cakes for the Group meeting. Five members attended the osteoporosis screening at WI House, Haverfordwest. Several members were interested in attending the Federation Dinner. Speaker for the afternoon was Bernice Clutterbuck, reflexologist, demonstrating the ancient healing act which has been known to man for thousands of years. Members were shown how gentle pressure applied to the feet can give a relaxing and healing effect on the whole body. Mrs. Dorothy Gedrych gave the vote of thanks. Tea and biscuits were served by Mrs. Anita Rich, and Mrs. Mair Davies. The monthly competition was won by Mrs. Mary Evans, with Mrs. Nora Nunn runner-up. The next meeting on April 11 will be a visit to Grandiflora Nurseries with tea afterwards at Bramleys.
