Saundersfoot Community Council intends to convert the little used double tennis court at the rear of the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, into an illuminated single tennis court and Multi-Use Games area (MUGA), and has been fortunate to be awarded a grant towards the scheme from Tesco, under its Bags of Help initiative, one of three schemes to be selected for awards in Pembrokeshire.
The scheme will enable children and people of all ages, whether locals or visitors, to enjoy a range of outdoor sports in a safe and secure, well-lit environment.
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of the regions awarded grants of £8,000, £10,000 and £12,000 - all raised from the 5p bag charge.
Whether Saundersfoot Alternative Sports Project is awarded £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000 is up the public. Saundersfoot Community Council is asking everyone to visit your local Tesco store* (* Tesco Express Stores in Saundersfoot, Tenby and Goodwick and Tesco Extra Stores in Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven and Haverfordwest) between February 27 and March 6, and vote for SASP!
Don’t forget to tell your family and friends about this project and get them voting as well.
